Hayloft Golf Society 2009
Hayloft Golfing Times
28 February 2010
College Pines set in the Grounds of Worksop College it is a perennial feature of the hayloft schedule.
Ok boring I know, is this better?
So what did the first event of the year hold for our intrepid Haylofters. Well first of the usual bacon cob was replaced by a full breakfast. This allowed us to be seated in the dinning room rather than the bar. Just as well we had comfy seats given the time it took for breakfast to arrive.
On the first tee many of the members grimaced with indigestion before slotting one onto the 18th fairway or into the driving range.
Luckily these first hole nerves soon evaporated and everyone soon got into the swing of things producing a mind-boggling array of tops, hooks, shanks and slices.
The society also welcomed 2 new members, Russ Wood (28) and Justin Miller (13).
Justin is a big hitter and narrowly missed out on the longest drive prize due to an administrative error. The new vice Captain forgot to pick up the NP and LD boards from the pro shop leaving everyone straining to spot the piece of paper he left in the middle of the fairway as a substitute. In the end our eagle eyed treasures Phil Dobson scooped the prize.
Nearest the pin was taken by Alan B, who left himself a putt the length of the green. No one else getting near the green never mind the pin.
At the bottom end of the pile JJ had a return to form taking over from Ian Young by winning the blue hat.
Rich Benniston had another good round and a good prospect for this years Most improved prize. He is unfortunately under investigation by his gaffer, Rob Jones, who suspects he spent 6wks on the driving range rather than off with an industrial injury.
Early in the day someone thought they spotter Tiger Woods. The Uk being the best place to cure a sex addiction after all.
There was however only one true professional on the course that day, Steve Maisey. Steve managed to return a stunning round of 75 gross (2 over par) to win the day with a score of 44.
